The surroundings of Split is very interesting and diverse so you may have interesting one-day trips exploring adjacent historical towns or natural beauties. Among six Croatian sights inscribed on UNESCO list, three are situated within 60 kilometers (Diocletian's palace, old town of Trogir and St Jacob's cathedral in Sibenik)!

Just 4 kilometers far from Split is town of Solin (ancient Salona - capital of Roman province Dalmatia with 60000 inhabitants at that time). You may see excavations and well preserved monuments.

If you take the highway just within 50 minutes you will reach the town of Sibenik and it 's cultural and historical sites (St Jacob's cathedral under UNESCO protection, fortresses St Ana and St Nicola etc).

Adjacent to Sibenik there are picturesque summer resorts Vodice, Primosten and Rogoznica. In addition, near Sibenik, there is one of the most beautiful Croatian National park - "N.P. Krka" with wide famous waterfalls on river Krka. www.npkrka.hr

If your spirit is adventurous than you should enjoy unforgettable experience of rafting, tracking, canoeing or fly fishing on the river Cetina.
